Just out of curiosity, what is the "ownership's" cap on contracts? Im doing a similar challenge and I've discovered that quality players who dont have offers in the green interest level will often accept offers they dont like over going to free agency, so Ive been able to get some pretty good players for pretty cheap. Idk if you'd consider that cheesing the game, but to me it does seem pretty realistic especially given the Boras fiasco we had this offseason.

Stadium suggestion: Make it an indoor baseball park

I’d suggest moving either trout or McCarty to 3b if one of them has a good enough arm (mid 60s) as often times in real life first baseman get moved over there to make room, ie. max muncy on the dodgers to make room for Freddie freeman
